Devon and Exeter premier
Okehampton Argyle 6
Topsham 2
ARGYLE continue their improve form with a comprehensive win against last year’s league champions Topsham.
It was the home side who opened the scoring with James Jackson, superbly tucking it home. Topsham held back the home side for most of the half but just before half-time a visiting own goal doubled the advantage and Argyle went into the interval 2-0 up.
However, back came Topsham and a few minutes into the second half pulled one back to make it 2-1.
Okehampton restored the two-goal margin with a superb goal from Tallon Burns.
Argyle were now on the ascendency and this was underlined when Corey Burns hit a free kick which the Topsham keeper misjudged to put the home side 4-1 up.
There were more goals from Tallon Burns and James Jackson to which Topsham could only score one in reply. The away side’s cause was not helped when they had a man sent off after having words with the referee.
Steve Ausden, a spokesman for Okehampton Argyle, told the Times:?‘We played very well, took our chances and thoroughly deserved the win.’
