A DAY of fun was had by all who joined in with both the sport and activities on offer during an under 11s football tournament and fun day held in Horrabridge recently, in memory of Daniel Bruce.

Daniel, from Dousland, died in May last year after battling leukaemia — proceeds from the tournament, which amounted to £1,726.28, were donated to CLIC Sargent.

Twelve teams played seven-a-side against each other in a competition comprising two leagues of six teams, each team playing a minimum of five matches.

The final top teams in each league played in the deciding match for the inaugural 'Daniel Bruce Memorial Shield'— ultimately Moortec Tigers beat Plymouth Kolts 2-0.

Special thanks goes to both Daniel Timmins and James Scrivener who volunteered their services for the day as referees.

In addition to the tournament, here were lots of cake, bric-a-brac and sweet stalls as well as hot and cold drinks and snacks available.

Horrabridge Cavaliers kindly offered to run the barbeque, there was apple bobbing and a bouncy castle was kindly offered by the Horrabridge school PTA.
