ZEAL progressed to the second round of the Devon senior cup on Saturday but although 2-1 up, with goals from Scott Hooper and Dan Wakeham at half time, the first 45 minutes had been a struggle as they went a goal down against the run of play but scored twice inside 10 minutes at the end of the half.

The visitors re-organised in the second half and dominated the home side and goals from Jamie Mallett, Stuart Entwistle and two from Harley Cann gave them a 6-1 advantage.

Newton to their credit never stopped trying and scored a deserved consolation goal just before full-time but were well beaten on the day by a South Zeal side that are capable of having a another good season.
