ST ANDREWS's Primary School sent a team of four year 5 and 6 children to compete in the first aquathlon to take place at the Plymouth Life Centre, which was organised by the Plymouth Schools Sports Partnership.
Cameron Hart, Leah Parnell-Moses, Stephanie Cade and Jonathon Moore swam 100m each in the diving pool at the Life Centre.
Their times were added together to give a team swim score. They then moved out to Central Park, where all the children in their age group had to run 1,200 metres through the park.
Leah produced an excellent run to come in fourth out of the 36 competitors. The other three team members ran well to finish close together and not far behind Leah. Again their individual times were added together to produce a team run time, which was added to the team swim score to produce the final result.
The excellent swims by Cameron and Stephanie, together with the good running by Leah and Jonathan, combined to produce a superb final team result of second position.
