Chagford v Clyst Honiton

BATTING first Chagford lost early wickets, and were tied down by the Clyst opening attack ofKevin Sercimbe and Pete Milner and were in a poor position at 57 for five wickets when Dale Chadwick joined the Chagford skipper at the Crease. 

Taking the attack to the bowlers, they both played shots all round the wicket adding 104 at a run a ball for the sixth wicket. 

However, at 161, Chadwick was well caught on the long on Boundary for a delightfull 44. 

Although Jake Barber departed for nought, Toby Gostling (15) and William Searle hung around to enable Lammonby to continue his onslaught on the Clyst Bowlers to finish on an unlikely total of 220 for 9 in their allotted overs. 

Lammonby finished on a deserved 84 not out  in a delightful innings.   

Outstanding for Clyst were their opening bowlers of Kevin Sercombe and Petes Milner who finished with 3 for 49 and 4 for 58 respectively.

In reply, Clyst lost Matthew Fitt to Lammonby with the score at nought but this brought George Pawley to the wicket to join Ian Sutton and they took the attack to the Chagford bowlers. where the bowling changes could not subdue them, adding 148 in quick time for the second wicket, when Pawley was bowled by Billy Searle for an excellent 72 was brought back to the attack. 

Grahame Trude was immediately bowled by the returning Lammonby and at 161 he  bowled Sutton for a valuable 56   Clyst then lost.

With Clinton Lewis (0), Pete Milner (0) and Wood (2), Kevin Sercombe stood firm and with 15 not out steered Clyst to 193 for 71 to earn Clyst a losing draw.

Like their Clyst counterparts, it was the Chagford opening attack that earned the plaudits with Billy Searle taking three for 29 and skipper Lammonby four for 54 in a fine all round performance,
