TAVISTOCK Hockey Club is going to be running ten weeks of Rush Hockey this summer, for all those who are feeling inspired by the London Olympics or who fancy trying something a bit different.
Rush Hockey is a simple form of hockey, with fewer rules, a bigger ball and a smaller playing area. It's easier for those who have not tried hockey before or are returning after a break.
Hannah Colston, Tavistock Rush Hockey activator, said: 'Whether you join with friends or as an individual, we accommodate all abilities and all equipment is provided! We believe that keeping hockey simple is the best way forward to bring new people into the sport
'Rush hockey is furiously fun and so simple to play. Anyone can come along and give it a go!'
For those who enjoy Rush Hockey there will be the opportunity to join the club as the winter season takes off in September.
Tavistock Hockey Club has three men's teams and two ladies' teams, catering for all levels, helping those who are new to the sport at a pace that suits them.
Rush Hockey sessions started yesterday (Wednesday) and carry on until the end of September and are ideal for those aged 16 and over at £2.00 a time. All equipment is provided —there's no need for gum shields or shin pads!
Meet at 6.45pm each week at Tavistock Community Sports Centre sports hall.
