WEST Devon's team at the Devon Games to Inspire (DGTI) came away with the prestigious overall Fair Play Award. The games are one of the largest of their kind in Devon and provide young people with the opportunity to compete in 11 sports and activities. The event took place on Saturday, June 14 at the University of Exeter Sports Campus. More than 500 children from across the county competed. The Fair Play trophy emphasises the importance of sportsmanship, compliance with rules, team spirit, honesty, promptness and behaviour. The West Devon team was selected from children who live in or attend school in the district following local trials. The squad was supported by the Okehampton Community Recreation Association (OCRA) and West Devon Borough Council. Seven teams took part this year with Teignbridge winning overall.
