RED Noses should be held at the ready as this Sunday sees the big one — the Tavy Comic Relief Mile.

Organised by Tavistock Athletic Club the big Red Nose day event takes place at Tavistock College.

It really is for all ages and abilities and organisers are hoping that £5,000 will be raised for the Comic Relief charities which aims to improve the lives of poor and disadvantaged people' at home and abroad.

TAC vice-chair Keith Bowles told the Times:?'This is an event for the whole community, not just those who run or jog, and everyone is welcome, especially whole families, and that it doesn't matter how much they are raising - £10 will be absolutely fine. And that only one member of the family needs to be sponsored, not every family member.

We do ask that everyone wears a red nose, with fancy dress an option (£20 prize for the best), and that they bring their sponsor form with them so we can tot up the total raised. Also that they turn up 10 minutes before their wave starts.

Participants are asked to download a sponsor form from http://www.rednoseday.com/fundraise/ideas-and-tools">www.rednoseday.com/fundraise/ideas-and-tools or obtain one from the offices of Gibbs Kirby estate agents in Market Road or the Times in Brook Street.

Red Noses and other merchandise are available from Oxfam in Tavistock or online http://www.rednoseday.com/order-stuff">www.rednoseday.com/order-stuff

Participants will be responsible for collecting their own sponsorship and sending it to Comic Relief.

The club hopes that everyone in the area can come along and raise some money, whatever the amount, and have a lot of fun doing it.
