A YOUNG Bere Alston rider enjoyed success at  at the Grange Equestrian Centre, Okehampton last week.

Ellie Blamey, aged five, and her Shetland pony Collytown Free Spirit won The NPS/ Micor Demolition Ltd Mountain and Moorland leading rein national championship and then went on to take overall mini ridden champion.

Proud mum Charmaine of the Collytown Shetland Pony Stud at Bere Alston said: 'This was the first time Ellie and Spirit have competed in a mixed Mountain and Moorland class against other breeds, the level of competition was extremely high with some beautiful ponies in attendance so this was a fantastic achievement.'
