DRAKE Judo Club attended the Welsh open championships in Cardiff at the weekend, which was specifically for pre-cadets (aged 12 and 13 years-old) and cadets (aged 14-16).

Tavistock College students Alanna Hopkins, Reuben Frise and Charlotte Hay were all in action on the mat.

Charlotte demonstrated a good technical performance resulting in her obtaining fifth place in her round.

Reuben came away with a hard fought fifth place and Alanna secured a bronze medal third place finish.

The highlight of the day came as Cordelia Gregory (16) took gold in the cadet girls 70 kilograms plus category.  She had already taken the junior and senior titles at the Welsh championships, giving her a magnificent ‘triple’ and is the current ranked British number one in both the cadet and junior ranking lists. All the Drake participants will now proceed through to the National Championships being held in December.
