FOR those brave enough to take to the saddle on their mountain bikes and the challenges of rough terrain the Woodland Riders Racing Winter Race has restarted.

Hosted by Gawton Gravity Hub at Maddacleace Woods, site near Tavistock, Devon, this four race series takes place on tight, technical tracks on the steep sides of the Tamar Valley.

This year's series will see the use of new track sections including a lower one for Avalanche for the committed racers. Gawton Gravity Hub has just secured an extension to their site, so dig days will be taking place over the winter to extend the tracks.

The first round of the winter series is on Sunday, December 8.

There will also be an under 14 female category, to encourage the girls to get involved and show the lads how its done!

WRR is run on a totally not for profit, voluntary basis.

Brett Nicolle, the secretary of the Gawton Gravity Hub told the Times: 'We would like to thank all of the racers, spectators, marshals, St John Ambulance services, RJ Catering, Eagle Plant, Supersaturated, Koo-Bikes, Silverfish UK, PRG MTB and Dartmoor Cycles for their support at our past events.'

Practice sessions on the Saturday are available for £5. Race entry cost £23.50 per race with and all races carrying British Cycling (downhill series) points.
