University of Exeter 2 Tavistock AFC 2 THE Lambs conceded their 100 per cent record start to the season when the home team came back from two goals down to share the points. It was the home team that got off to a fast start, as a slip by Harry Southcott let winger Higgins in, but his cross was collected by Martin Piper in the visitor's goal. Shortly afterwards, a corner kick found University's full back Farley in some space, but his header was wide of the target. The Lambs then settled down and started to get their passing game going — putting pressure on the home defence. In the 22nd minute the home team were denied from taking the lead when Martin Piper made a good save to deny Blackie. The visitors then began to produce some fine football but the home defence were resilient. However, in the 30th minute it was the Lambs that opened the scoring when Fyneboy made a fine run down the right hand channel beating two defenders, before passing to Luke Doddridge, who calmly placed a low shot into the corner of the net. Six minutes later, after more good work from Fyneboy and Farnham, home keeper Allen made a good save to deny Chris Maskell from increasing the Lambs' lead. Piper took a heavy knock in the 42nd minute when he came out to collect a great cross from a corner kick. Then, just before the interval, a quick counter attack by the home team saw the Lambs short of numbers in defence, winger Higgins produced a great cross but centre forward Blackie headed wide of the target. Three minutes into the second half Fyneboy broke clear, out paced the defenders, rounded Allen in the home goal and slotted the ball home to double the Lambs' lead. It was the home keeper that was the busier making two great saves to deny the visitors from increasing their lead. On the hour mark another counter attack by the home team produced a penetrating run by Alex Funnell into the penalty area where Dave Hallett miss-timed his challenge resulting in a penalty kick being awarded. Josh Higgins despatched the spot kick to reduce the arrears. The Lambs continued to push forward but the home team pressed the ball well and the visitors found it difficult to get their free flowing passing game going to any effect. The home team completed their comeback in stoppage time when a deep cross from Andy Farley was headed home at the far post by Peter Beadle. The Lambs will be disappointed at conceding two goals to see their 100 per cent record slip, but they are still undefeated. Some credit must be given to the home team as they pressed the ball high up the pitch which did not allow the visitors any time on the ball.
