A JustGiving crowdfunding page was set up to help pay for renovations and replacing equipment at Yelverton Bohemians Cricket Club.

The club have had a busy season, and are now looking to raise money to improve their idyllic ground ahead of next year

Patrick Medhurst-Feeney, a member of the Bohemians — and also the Help for Heroes Cricket Club which is made up of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans — set up the JustGiving page which is hoping to raise £2,000.

Writing on his JustGiving page, Patrick said: ‘This season two vital pieces of machinery broke down (tractor and roller) meaning that members had to use equipment not suited to the role.’

Patrick explained: ‘As a small club we haven’t had the funds available to repair the equipment. Without it, it’s tough to keep the ground at a good level.’

He continued: ‘Yelverton Bohemians Cricket Club is a beautiful little club on the fantastic Dartmoor National Park. Home to three senior teams and numerous youth sides, the club acts as a vital hub for the young, old, and even caters to a disabled cricketer.’

Donors left messages of support on the JustGiving page. One wrote: ‘The ground fairies need tip-top equipment to keep the ground as beautiful as it is, and great to play on.’

At the time of writing the JustGiving page had reached £70 of its £2,000 target. If you would like to support the appeal go to the website www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/ybcc
