Tavistock seconds v

South Devon seconds

TAVISTOCK entertained South Devon on Saturday knowing that they needed only a few points to ensure safety.

Losing the toss, Tavistock were asked to bat. Phil Bees was out early but captain Marc Webber and Aaron Churchill took the score to 85 before the latter was dismissed. Webber carried on and now joined by John McGahey added 142 for the third wicket, McGahey making a solid 54. Webber batted on reaching his century in 90 balls.

Along with Morgen then Hopkins the score rattled along and Webber batted throughout the innings fo a magnificent 171 not out and accumulative total of 323 for 5.

Faced with such a daunting task, South Devon were never in the hunt, only Sean Taylor with 45 not out looked happy.

Mark Hopkins bowled as miserly as ever with 4-14 from his nine overs, while young 12-year-old leg spinner Will Scott-Munden again showed his talents with 3-32 in his nine overs. This was a good win for the home side by 190 runs.
