Devon seconds B West
TAVISTOCK seconds visited Yelverton on Saturday in a basement battle, with each side eager for a win. Yelverton batted first and steadily built a good platform through Grove and Colmer.
Morgan Fraser broke the partnership with two quick wickets. Smith-Beauchamp took over and again made impressive scores. Tavistock were unable to make any inroads and only a late impressive spell by young cricketer Jacob Staig kept the runs to a respectable total of 235.
The visitors’ innings started badly and only got worse; early wickets fell and only John McGahey with 35 kept the Yelverton bowlers out for long. A poor total of 104 was only reached, giving Yelverton a comprehensive victory deserved by better batting, bowling and fielding.
