LAST year’s champions Conservative A entertained last year’s runners up West Devon A in a clash of the dominant two powers of the Tavistock Snooker League.

It could have gone either way, with the match being eventually settled by a ‘black ball’ final frame.

Heathman drew first blood for West Devon as he took full advantage of a slightly rusty performance from Evans to put his side in front.

Cook pulled the Con A level as he overcame some early sparring with Taylor to slot in a 25 break which proved too much for Taylor to come back from.

West Devon were in front again with Kevin Rich trading early blows with Babb before he provided an entertaining 37 break to settle matters.

Conservative A came back again with Carruthers overcoming some early feisty potting from Lawrence to take the frame with some nice selective shots.

As so often before, the match was going to have to be decided by the final frame.

A nervous looking Bell for the Con A, was up against the epitome of ‘cool match play’ snooker in the form of seasoned Morris.

A tense, nervous frame from both Bell for Con A and Morris for West Devon A inevitably went down to the last ball. Morris rued a missed easy chance over the corner pocket, letting Bell in to gratefully take the black and the spoils for Conservative A.
