CONSERVATIVE A all but secured top spot in Tavistock Snooker League with this 5-0 win over West Devon D, some achievement with still two games of the season left.

Babb for Con A recaptured some of his renowned potting ability to take out the dangerous Paul Shrimpton, despite a late rally from Shrimpton that almost derailed him.

Bell, struggling with his game this season, found some of his touch to take full advantage of a lack lustre showing from Decieco to put the Con A two up. Three up for the Con’s came curtesy of a solid showing from Lacey who dampened the threat posed by the competent Murton. Con A’s Evans made it four with the obligatory protracted frame against May in the longest frame of the evening if not the season.

The maximum for Con A was ushered in with Carruthers hitting a purple patch, 31 and 22 breaks almost taking him out of sight of WD D’s Ward. Credit to Ward who stuck to the task and pulled things back to force Carruthers to take colours at the end of the frame to secure it.

West Devon B all but committed Conservative C to bottom of the table ignominy again this season with a robust 4-1 win over them.

West Devon skipper Gilchrist led from the front with a hard worked last ball win over Con C’s Davey, only for Con C’s Neale to pull his side level with another close win over Roger Rich.

John Rich restored West Devon’s advantage with a comfortable win over Weldon, once Rich got his nose in front he never looked like losing.

Hoare produced the winning frame for West Devon as he had little trouble in beating a somewhat lacklustre Dodd.

After his bright inaugural game, it was after the ‘Lord Mayors Show’ for Davies as he came out second best against a revitalised Horrell in a dominant display.
