A SURPRISE result in the Tavistock Snooker League came from two normally well matched adversaries.
The Conservative Z team's Symons was pitted against West Devon D's Fred Hodge. In a one hour marathon, both players tried to outwit each other but Symons eventually outwitted himself and Hodge took the frame convincingly.
Dodd levelled for Con Z by outplaying Williams, who contrived through a series of unforced errors to hand the game to his opponent.
Jankowski for Con Z was back to his best, dispatching Elliot of the West Devon in his inimitable whirlwind fashion. Hall (25) for the Con Z made an unconvincing start against Pinkney but regained his composure and with some superb potting left Pinkney with too steep of an uphill task to come back from. With the score now 3-1 to the Conservative Z, Flack needed both pink and black in a tough game against Grigg but potted them both in consummate fashion. With this 4-1 win the Z team can now boast the record of being the first team this season to win more than three frames in a match.
West Devon B continued their 100% record this season by overcoming neighbours West Devon D in a tight one.
John Rich continued his 'rich' vein of good form by brushing aside May in a one sided if not rapid encounter. Horrel took the B team two up with a 'black ball' frame against Decieco, only for Shoulders to pull one back for the D Team as he edged out Rich (senior).
It was soon all square again as the D team's Shrimpton outwitted the resurgent Smith to set up a deciding frame. The win came for the West Devon B with Hoar getting the better of Murton. West Devon B are now only two points off the top spot.
