TAVISTOCK College students recently competed in the Devon versus Cornwall Tamar Cup swimming gala.

Students from the college competed across all 24 event races and with lots of pupils swimming up an age group.

With 14 races with first place finishes, the students were growing in confidence and they won the shield for the college. Tavistock then combined with Okehampton College to ensure that Devon was victorious, gaining the most points overall.

This is the first time in five years that Devon has won.

Amy Roberts, as team captain, said: ‘Everyone raced very well and with lots of effort.’

Amy won all four of her races and led the team superbly.

Overall results: Tavistock 46, Launceston 48, Okehampton 69 and Bude 82.
