THERE is much sporting prowess at Tavistock College and this was highlighted by the trophies brought back by its students from Paris after their annual sports tour.
All three sports teams were represented by the nominated team captains — Jason Vincent (football), Morgan Warrnett (rugby) and Fen Eastaugh and Lucy Solman (netball). These nominations were due to leadership, sporting excellence and recognition by their peers for consistent representation for the college.
Two tour captains were given the honour for representing the pupils. Joe Sellars and Heather Wright were chosen for their recognition of excellence in college, exemplary attitude and how they embody the college ethos and values. These students are seen by their peers as role models for pupils at Tavistock College.

Bowls has been played for generations in the Worth family. Arthur and Sylvia Worth started to play the sport in Tavistock over 30 years ago. And now their son Chris — Jack and Ashley's dad — plays the sport at the club. Other members of the Worth family attend the club each week.
The boys said to us that they were inspired by their nan and grandad to take up the sport.

The girls have been training hard during the winter to continue their development, both physically and mentally.
Saskia said: 'It is really good to win the RYA Youth Nationals again as it gives me a great chance to go back and defend my title at the ISAF Youth Worlds.
'After the Tuesday, it gave me a wake-up call that anything can happen and if you are at the back of the fleet then you can either just sit there and follow everyone else or take the opportunities to bang a corner and get back to the front of the fleet. Tuesday was a massive learning point for me and since then I have just tried to stay consistent and not increase my discards.'
Saskia has now qualified to represent team GBR at the ISAF youth worlds in August, while sister Imogen will look for her first major title at the EUROSAF European championships this July.
