Devon seconds C Yelverton seconds v Clyst Hydon seconds YELVERTON seconds travelled to Clyst Hydon on Saturday and chased leather for a large part of the afternoon as Clyst racked up an imposing 264-8 before declaring after 40 overs.  The opening exchanges did not go too well when opening batsman Richard Townsend damaged his shoulder when diving in the field in the fourth over and was forced to leave the field and unable to bat. Clyst's overseas Sri Lankan player Batatodage scored a quickfire 93 before coming one of Terry Roe's (3-51) victims.  Former Devon seamer John Rhodes also bashed a quick no-nonsense 43.  U17s' players Dan Cooper (2-18) and Steve Colmer (0-25) both bowled good accurate spells in the circumstances and Sam Betts also chipped in with two wickets. In reply, Yelverton struggled against the swing and seam movement created by Rhodes and couldn't keep up with the scoring rate and closed on 211-6. Chris Cottrell top scored with 54 and Anis Zubair went to an undefeated 51 not out with a six off the last ball of the innings. n On Saturday Yelverton seconds entertain Kingsbridge seconds, starting at 2pm start at Langton Park.   Yelverton thirds v Abbotskerswell thirds Abbotskerswell thirds 211-9 beat Yelverton thirds 138-8 by 73 runs. n On Saturday Yelverton thirds are at home to Torquay thirds at Walkhampton, 2pm start.
