ANOTHER extremely busy week was had at Okehampton Golf Club. On Monday there was the last of the seniors' opens for 2014. The overall winners with 79 points were Danny James, Peter Howard and Tim Johnson (Launceston); second overall were Bob Collett, Richard Goodger and Jerry Lock with 76pts (Okehampton). The first visitor prize was won by John Horner, Mike Best and John Brammer with 72pts (St Austell). On Saturday an individual medal competition was played. Winner of division one with nett 63 after countback was Rod Milsom-Smith from in second Mark Wonnacott. In third with nett 67 on the back nine was Paul Rattenbury. Division two was won by Terry Steer with nett 61 on the back nine from in second Aaron West. Third place went to David Way with nett 67. Division three was won by David Stanbury with an impressive nett 61. Second with nett 65 was John Latham and in third was Ian Butt with nett 68. On Sunday the club hosted a four ball better ball mixed open, the winners with 78 points were Allen and Penny Deakin, Lyn Hazelton and Alan Lawrence (Okehampton). Second overall were Colin and Jane Wayman (Exeter) with Paul Hill and June Nightingale(Honiton) with 76pts. The Ladies at Okehampton Golf Club celebrated their annual club championship , following 36 holes of golf spread over two days. The scratch competition was closely fought between Marcia Collett and Penny Deakin, both coming in with the same gross score of 162 after the two rounds. Marcia Collett won on countback and was presented with the Ladies' Championship Cup. The winner of the handicap salver was Lynda Walker with a nett 66 on both days and Marcia Jones won the Vick Rose Bowl in the 18 hole Stableford competition.
