IN glorious May weather the Devon Men's Veterans Golfing Association team headed into Cornwall to play the first leg of the annual match against the Cornish Seniors' Golfing Association at The Point Golf Club at Polzeth.

Many of the Devon players were unfamiliar with The Point but found it a challenge. It was in excellent condition with playable fairways and greens and were helped and guided in the usual friendly manner by the Cornish team.

The results of the first leg, Devon-6 ½ Cornwall-4 ½.

The return match was played the following week at Tavistock in contrasting conditions, with strong north westernly winds and rain showers.

The final results of the two matches were Devon won 7-4 at Tavistock, giving the DMVGA an overall win of 13½ -8 ½.

This is the first time since 2010 that Devon has won this contest.
