THE Year 10 cricket team from Callington Community College represented Cornwall in the English School National Cricket Cup first round.

The Callington team, their first time representing Cornwall in cricket, played Devon at Shebbear College.

Captain Luke Brenton lost the toss and Callington were put into bat. After 30 overs a weary and tired Shebbear College left the field and the scoreboard was looking very positive for the Cornish.

After tea in the school hall, the Year 10s took to the field where excellent bowling by all ten bowlers ensured that Callington won by 107 runs.

In the next round Callington will play Sherborne College, the champions of Dorset.

Congratulations were given to Toby and Luke, who both put on centuries during their innings to make a superb win for Cornwall against the Devon champions.
