FOLLOWING in the family sporting tradition a young Somerset swimmer is following in the footsteps of his grandad, former Tavistock Football Club player and manager David Williams.
David, who served the Lambs in the early 1980s, died last October and his grandson Brodie Williams, the son of Darren and Lucy Williams of Street, Somerset is now making a name in a different sport.
Brodie, 13, is the fastest 200 meters backstroke swimmer in England recording a time of 2.08.35 at his recent county championships and broke the Somerset junior record.
The young swimmer has won more than 200 medals, include eight gold West of England medals since he started swimming for Street and district Swimming Club.
He attended the British Age Group Nationals last year at Sheffield qualifying for six events and five finals for his age finishing seventh in the BAGCATS positions for his age in the country.
Brodie's other grandad and grandmother Dereck and Noreen White live in Tavistock.
