IN a tournament of 28 teams Bere Alston Bowling Club held its annual Bere Alston Open Mixed Fours Tournament.

The winners were J Biagot, J West, B Ellis and A Ellis (Plympton and Beacon Down); 2, R Redfern, A Jones, M Jones and M Pearce (Callington); 3, N Worth, S Worth, J Prynne and N Prynne (Dunheved Launceston); 4, A Crosby, C Crosby, P Ross and R Perryman (Yelverton).

Plymouth and District Evening League lost 71-104 at home to Tamar (J East, P Moore, T Bond and R Casey 13-30; B McPhillips, A Hurford, K Bellchambers and R Northam 22-27; T Northam, C Dyer, P Whitting and K Whitting 17-23; P Barden, D Mitchell, R Hewitt and K Wood 19-24).

Plymouth and District Evening League lost 76-88 away to Yealmpton (J East, P Moore, T Bond and R Casey 23-18; T Northam, C Dyer, K Bellchambers and J Sowden 14-30; B McPhillips, B Evens, R Rowe and K Whitting 11-22; I Murphy, D Mitchell, R Hewitt and K Wood 28-18).

The friendly away to Tavistock was abandoned after eight ends due to heavy rain.

Ladies’ Plymouth and District D League won 46-37 at home to Saltash (J Atkins-Redden, Y Collom, M Gregory and R Lampey 20-16; C Doidge, A Hewitt, M Rockett and E Percival 26-21).
