BERE Alston Trekkers will be hosting its annual Bats Big Breakfast this Saturday between 10am to 1pm.

Organisers invite people to go along and enjoy a full English breakfast (a vegetarian option is available), or share a bacon sandwich with family and friends or buy one of our delicious cakes or buy a raffle ticket or a bit of everything.

Nathan Newton, on behalf of the (Bats), is planning to run 24 hours on a treadmill. The event will be in the Bere Alston Parish Hall tomorrow and will start at 1pm and run through until 1pm, the next day and finish as part of the Bats Big Breakfast.

Nathan had the idea for undertaking the challenge after reading a book by running guru Dean Karnazes, who is an American ultramarathon runner and undertook a similar challenge in New York in 2008. He has offered advice and support to Nathan for Friday's event.

Nathan will also be supported every step of the way by his coach Dotty King, other Bats and family who will be taking turns to run on another treadmill.

Nathan and the Bats would like to raise as much money as possible for the neonatal intensive care unit at Plymouth Hospital.

Bats invite people to go along and show their support or make a donation on the club's sponsor page http://www.justgiving.com/NathansTreadmillChallenge">www.justgiving.com/NathansTreadmillChallenge
