MEMBERS of Bere Alston Trekkers (BATs) headed in two directions for their racing this week — some south to Totnes for the Totnes 10k and some west for the Indian Queens Half Marathon.

The weather for both events was warm and humid – not ideal running conditions.

Lisa Birch and Matthew Wood took part in the Totnes 10K, a well-established multi-terrain 10K organised by Teignbridge Trotters run on grass, tarmac, gravel and woodland paths.

The route follows the river up to Dartington Estate and then cuts back to Totnes for the finish. Lisa finished in 1 hour 00 minutes 15 seconds and Matthew in 1.03.59.

Debbie Ashton, Tanya Argue, Gary Fielder, Jim Medhurst and Hilary and Martin Head took part in the Indian Queens Half Marathon, run out from Indian Queens across the Goss Moor Nature Reserve, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

It is Cornwall’s flattest half marathon run on country lanes and firm trail and is gently undulating with a couple of short hills.

Club times: Gary Fielder 1.47.11, Martin Head 1.48.68, Jim Medhurst 1.52.50, Tanya Argue 1.55.29, Debbie Ashton 2.08.00 and Hilary Head 2.43.27.
