TAVISTOCK Rugby Club U12s player Ben McKenzie will be putting his best foot forward in order to raise funds for North Devon Hospice's Long House Appeal. Ben, aged 12, will be climbing Wales' highest peak, Mount Snowdon, sets off on Saturday (June 21) to raise money for the appeal which aims to build a hospice outreach centre in Holsworthy. The idea of climbing Mount Snowdon came to Ben over a year ago, and with the launch of The Long House Appeal near his home town, now seemed the right time to realise his dream. 'I like to walk and generally keep fit, which includes playing rugby for Tavistock juniors, but I know this is still going to be a really hard challenge.' he said. 'I'll be going with my older cousin, Paul, who has climbed Kilimanjaro before so I'm sure he will help me get to the top!' Ben's Mum, Sharon McKenzie, has also supported The Long House Appeal this year by taking part in Nightwalk, the ladies-only sponsored walk at Tamar Lakes. She said: 'He's gone past the £450 mark and everyone has been so supportive of him, including his rugby club at Tavistock who have also sponsored him for his efforts.' n If you would like to sponsor Ben visit http://www.virginmoneygiving.com/benmckenzie">www.virginmoneygiving.com/benmckenzie
