BERE Alston Trekkers (BATs) were among those who took part in the Run Venture’s Rollercoaster at Gulworthy.

The Rollercoaster is a way-marked five mile trail race which has five main rollercoaster hills and quite a few smaller ones, all off-road in the beautiful Tamar Trails in the Tamar Valley.

The Rollercoaster allowed dogs to run with their owners, and three BATs took the opportunity to run with their canine friends.

First male BAT over the line was Paul Aston (with Fruitloop) in 42 minutes 15secs, followed by Martin Head in 47.36. The lady BATs were led in by Lisa Birch in 50.50. The remaining BATs were Jon Rowsell 50.07, Murray Turner 50.51, Ben Saul 52.47, Dave Dencer 52.54, Heather French 54.49, Debbie Ashton (with Noggin) 55.53, Melissa Pinfield 56.00, Hazel Bickley 57.14, Pam Adams 57.18, Hilary Head 59.28, Sarah Bartlett (and Slinky) 1.02.47, Yvonne and Derek Hicks 1.07.23. BATs Paul Ashton, Jon Rowsell and Murray Turner are not pictured above.

Northern BATs Andy Cowden and Jaynie Turner took part in the highly popular Wilmslow 10k, staged by Run North West. In bitterly cold conditions, this road race was staged on a completely traffic free, point-to-point course. Starting in the town centre of Wilmslow and finishing at the same location as the popular Waters Wilmslow Half Marathon.

Andy posted a very good time of 48 minutes 36 seconds and Jaynie completed her run in 55.22 mins.
