TIS' the season to be jolly and fully embracing the Christmas spirit were Bere Alston Trekkers (Bats) Mike and Heather Smith who ran two races in two counties on the same day.
Their first race was the Otterton 10 kilometre Reindeer Run. Taking place on a clear and crisp day, runners, including Santas, Christmas Trees and the famous Rudolf, were rewarded with fabulous views over Budleigh Salterton in East Devon at the top of the uphill sections. The race followed the river back into Otterton where runners received commemorative mugs of mulled wine and local mince pies.
The second took place at the Callington Santa Sprint in aid of CHICKS. A sleigh-load of Santas young and old ran 1.5 miles around the town, starting from the town cricket club.
