AFTER an incredible first season in the Devon and Exeter league Okehampton Argyle U10s capped the season off with a cup final at St James' Park — home of Exeter City Football Club. A full squad travelled and they where made to feel special and most welcome by the Devon league and ECFC. On a glorious sunny day the Argyle team were greeted by a large travelling contingent of support from their home town. The players and management were led to ECFC Home dressing room were they prepared for kick off against a good Pink Panthers side from Exeter. The players were led out of the tunnel by their respective captains and were introduced to the 500 strong crowd. To match kicked off in true cup final style with every member of each side giving their all. The early exchanges were even with both sides testing each other, the tackling was hard and fair. Argyle at times found themselves pinned back by the Pink Panthers but they could not break the Oke defence and at half time it was 0-0. The second half was to prove to be much the same as both sides traded blows but each standing firm and Argyle were unlucky when they had an effort disallowed as the ball was adjudged to have gone out of play. With time running out the Panthers hit the woodwork and fulltime soon followed. With the scores level extra time was to be played. In an exciting period of extra time neither side could break through so at the final whistle it was 0-0. With no penalty shootout both teams share the trophy for six months each. Argyle U10s spokesman Rich Camies said:?'It proved to be a truly memorable occasion that the boys will never forget.'
