A FISHING trip to Cornwall reeled in what could be a British record for an angler from Mary Tavy.

Chris Sydenham hooked a Spanish mackerel last week in monthly fishing trip organised by his friend John Cossens to Newquay on the chartered boat Che Sara Sara with skipper Dave Trebilcock.

The current record for the fish stands at 1lb 5 ounces 8 drammes but Chris's catch weighed in at at 1 lb 6 ounces 7 dr.

All details of my catch have now been sent to the British record rod caught fish committee for clarification.
