TAVISTOCK junior triathlete Pete Jarman took part in the Okehampton Cycle Club 10 mile time trial series held at Bridestowe,

He has improved throughout the season and on the last event he broke the 29 minute barrier and achieved a personal best.

Pete would like to thank Robert Szembeck , Ian Dudley and all the volunteers for their hard work throughout the season to make the event such a success.

Pete took part in the Roseland Sprint Triathlon. This event comprised a 750 metre open water swim from Tatum's Beach to Portscatho, followed by a 20k cycle to St Mawes and back, finishing with a 5k run on the road and coastal path.  The event started well, however the cycle route was on open public roads and  these were narrow and winding.  Unfortunately one of the leading cyclists suffered a serious accident and was airlifted to hospital.  The road was then closed and competitors diverted.  There was initial confusion over continuing the event however it did carry on with varying results. Pete managed to complete the event and finished with an above average time.

Pete, 15, trains with Tavistock Athletic Club and Tavistock Swim Club and competed on behalf of Plymouth Triathlon Club.
