NINE fundraising volunteers completed the UK's longest zip wire last month in aid of two charities.
The intrepid volunteers tackled the zip wire at Adrenaline Quarry in Menheniot to raise funds for Leonard Cheshire Disability West Devon Enabling Scheme and the Tavistock Physically Challenged Group.
The volunteers, who ranged from 17 to 74 years old, were Karen Williams, Debbie Amsden, Maryanne Earl, Isla Dixon, Caitlin Holder, Eddie Lloyd, Matthew Spurling, Alex Dixon-Greenfield and Michael Flavel.
Approximately £528 was raised for the two charities, with a donation included from Andrew Mason of Aquafax Ltd at Luton who donated £100 on behalf of his company.
Alex, West Devon Enabling co-ordinator, said: 'The day was great fun and although some people were a bit shaky everyone took the plunge and enjoyed themselves. A thank you to everyone that took part and to the staff at Adrenaline Quarry.'
Both groups help disabled adults remain a valuable part of their community, with outings and providing volunteers to help with social activities and much more.
Both groups welcome new members and volunteers.
