Devon & Exeter senior 3 Bampton 2 South Zeal Utd 1 EVEN though Zeal put in a below-par performance on Saturday they could still have won against a poor Bampton side. For the first 20 minutes Zeal dominated and were unlucky not to take the lead when Jerry Stephens pulled a good ball back from the touchline only to see Lee Gilbert hit the post from six yards. The home side scored twice in the last 15 minutes of the first half, the first from a corner with a good header and the second from a poorly defended free kick. In the second half Zeal started to exert pressure and after 15 minutes their efforts were rewarded when Jerry Stephens was brought down in the penalty area. But the spot kick was hit well wide and the score remained 2-0 to Bampton. Zeal got back into the game with ten minutes remaining when Lee Gilbert set up Jerry Stephens who finished well from an acute angle.
