YUMMY Mummys, cinemas and volunteers are all coming together in pyjamas for a big fundraising event this week.

Sarah Bowden, assistant section manager at Waitrose in Okehampton, has recently hung up her uniform so she can become a volunteer fundraiser for children's charity CLIC Sargent.

Sarah is one of a small number of John Lewis and Waitrose employees across the UK chosen to become a charity volunteer for their charity of choice.

Sarah is currently enjoying a six month secondment with part of CLIC Sargent's South West fundraising team.

As part of her new duties, Sarah is helping to raise awareness of the charity's national fundraising campaign, Yummy Mummy Week.

Sarah has helped organise a special event taking place in Exeter this weekend — The Big Pyjama Party at the Pictures.

The event is all set to take place at the Odeon Cinema in Exeter on Saturday, September 27 from 11pm until 7am.

It is being billed as the ultimate girls' night in and will see hundreds of women from across the county descend on Exeter in their pyjamas to watch classic chick flicks 'Pretty Woman', 'Dirty Dancing' and 'Top Gun'.

Also supporting the event will be Exeter resident and star of Channel 4's Big Brother, Belinda Harris-Reid.

Sarah said: 'It has been a very exciting time for me and given me an opportunity to really get involved in CLIC Sargent, a charity close to my heart.

'I have already been part of some interesting events and done things I would never had the chance to do, like being on the radio.

'I have the John Lewis Partnership's own charity, the Golden Jubilee Trust, to thank for this opportunity and am so happy to be able to help support such a great cause.

'So bring your friends, mum, sister, auntie and grandma and have a great night out while raising money to help children and young people with cancer.'

Yummy Mummy Week 2008, which is being sponsored by the international financial services organisation, Foresters, officially takes place from September 20 to 28 and will see thousands of mums, grans and families getting together to have fun whilst raising much-needed funds.

In the four years since the Yummy Mummy campaign was launched, more than £700,000 has been raised and this year the aim is to break the £1 million mark.

Tickets for the pyjama party at the pictures cost £10.
