Okehampton U15s 57

Crediton U15s 5

STARTING brightly Okes soon began to release the backs Dean Folland going over with Wilkins adding the extras.

Okes carried on in the same vein but Crediton's aggressive forwards were causing trouble for Okes at the ruck driving them off their ball. However once ball was won the speed and strength of all the backs started to pay dividends with Alex Arthurs scoring wide and Folland again going over.

After the turnaround Okes allowed Crediton's back into the game scoring an unconverted try after some sloppy defence. This fired Okes up with Wilkins scoring wide out and Folland completing this hat-trick both converted by Wilkins.

From prop forward to full back every Okes player loves the ball in the hand, some of the support and ball handling skills were superb, Marcus Garrett, Dean Andrews, Jordan Corthraite and Josh Bush all scoring with Wilkins kicking brilliantly from acute angles.

Jack Dymond and Josh Bush returning from injury Okes can only continue to improve. It was the best performance of the season, with good individual performance especially Luke Dennis, Daniel Lee, Jacob Barber and Paul Penberthy.

WITH a strong wind blowing down the hill, it was clear that the elements would dictate the game tactics.

Tavistock kept it close but it was Lauren Dawe who broke through the Albion line. After several offloads, Alice Upcott, with an outstretched arm, crossed the line within three minutes.

With a short period of messy play Albion gradually took the game to Tavistock and battled through to score under the posts.

After the break, with the Albion forwards trying to close the game down, Ali Huntley gathered the ball, broke from the pack, and with withering pace rounded several players to score and Fiona McCall added the extras.

In the dying minutes Albion rallied again, to even the score.

Newcomers, Karen Stacy and Kim Upcott, showed great potential with their tackling and passing under pressure.

TAVISTOCK scored within two minutes after the ball went through four pairs of hands to winger Toni Hoare who scorched down the line to score. Just before half time, a reply try from Cullompton, brought the scores even.

Soon into the second half after a further Cullompton try, captain Ali Huntley broke through to score. Fiona McCall converted under the blustery conditions to level the scores

Despite the disappointment of a disallowed try within seconds of the final whistle Alice Upcott used her strength to cross the line giving Tavistock the match.

The inter-passing and lay-offs from some of the newer players including Rosie Tidball and Browen Rundell, guided by Amy Neave, Fiona McCall and Ali Huntley made it thrilling to watch.

Barnstaple U15s 65

Tavistock U15s 0

Once again Tavistock travelled, this time to Barnstaple, without a full team. However, it was still obvious that Barnstaple was by far the better team as the score suggests.

North Okes U14s 24

Crediton U14s 7

TWO even teams fought out a local derby with no quarter given.

North Okes started well with some good forward drives through the middle of the park. Josh Bickley picked up and drove after a good pass by Jack Williams and Jake Giles-Phillips to score near the posts. Billy Searle converted.

Crediton backs were equal to the Okes, putting in some big hits in the centre. Crediton's big number eight McCauley was a real handful and barged his way over to level the score.

Okes went into the second half confident, knowing they had the wind and the slope behind them. There were a series of quick penalties, Luke Simmons and Conner Vincent both contained the powerful wingers. Good hands saw Kieran Lee squeeze over in the corner.

The Okes now camped in Creditons half, mounting attack after attack. Angus Mortimore crossed the line twice but was held up. Towards the end Josh Bickley received a pass from Dan Squire after Josh Punchard had made the break to score the final try.

North Okes U13s 7

Crediton U13s 10

NORTH Okes faced local rivals Crediton on a blustery morning with a confident side who started from the kick off with great tackling from Charlie Goldsworthy and Liam Mitchel.

Ben Sharp got a lovely clean ball from the forwards and spun the ball out along the line to Ross Voaden on the wing but was squeezed into touch. Matt Milton played a blinder in second row cleaning his and some of Crediton's line out balls.

Crediton ran the ball up the centre using their big forwards to punch holes and Dan Fogerty and Dan Vincent put in some crunching tackles but couldn't stop Crediton scoring their first try.

North Okes came out after half time and ran the ball more and were rewarded with a lovely try from Ollie Cribbimms who simply outpaced his opponent.

Robbie Griffiths had a great run down the wing but Crediton tackled him into touch ten metres short of the line.

Unfortunately North Okes gave away penalties for being offside, with one scored under the post to give them the lead.

However North Okes received a well done from their coaches to the boys who put in their best team performance of the season so far.

Tavistock U12s 61

Saltash U12s 21

A GREY, blustery sky did nothing to dampen the spirits of the two sides, who both put in an excellent performance.

Tavistock made up for their slow start in the last couple of matches with three unstoppable tries by Charlie in the first 15 minutes, all coolly converted by Matthew.

Saltash were unable to capitalise on their strong scrum and good communication between Finn and Charlie won Tavistock another try despite a fierce Saltash defence. To their credit Saltash did not let this setback get to them, and scored a well deserved try shortly before half time.

Tavistock rucked well throughout the match, setting the ball well after some strong Saltash tackles.

Harvey opened the Tavistock scoring in the second half with a try converted by Christian, and successfully converted another try soon after. Best support player was Alec, and tackle of the match came from Alex. Saltash came back bravely in the second half but were unable to catch up the Tavistock lead.

Tavistock  U11s 63

Saltash     U11s 5

TAVISTOCK continued their unbeaten season with a convincing win over the only team that beat them last year.

The forwards dominated the open play from the start  and provided good ball for Fred and Jack to make probing runs in midfield. An early try from Will P was followed up by two well worked tries from rolling mauls by front row forwards Callum and Roy.  Saltash responded with a try early in the second half but Tavistock maintained the pressure and Steven, Will S, Josh and Cameron continued to drive forward.

Strong running from backs  Ethan, Bernie , Laurence and Harry and clean offloading and recycling from the tackle resulted in further tries from Will P and Callum. Ben then ran in a try in the corner from a long Saltash clearance kick and George swooped on another clearance kick which was charged down by the forwards to score Tavistock's ninth try.

Okehampton U11s 0

Tavistock U11s 59

OKEHAMPTON forwards started with the upper hand in the scrum and turned over much ball but thanks to defensive tackling by forwards Tavistock's Callum, Rory and Will G were unable to take advantage.

Will P opened the scoring for the visitors, outpacing the Oke' defence to run in the first of five tries for the first half. A second converted try for Will P widened the lead for Tavistock.

Tavistock's backs displayed periods of flowing rugby, moving the ball wide along the line to Fred, Lily and Will T to gain valuable ground. A maul on the five metreline saw the Tavistock pack drive forward to send Rory over the line. This was followed shortly after by tries from George and Jac. Okehampton continued to push forward but were constantly thwarted by some great tackling from Laurence, Callum, George, Alex and Matt and denied the chance to score.

Valuable lineout ball was won by Tavistock's Cameron, Chris and Stephen.  This in turn released the backs to send Will P over the line for three more tries.  With only a minute to go Rory surged forward to score his second try.

Crediton U11s 28

Okehampton U11s 24

Okehampton travelled with only ten players to a windswept Crediton to play on a sticky and small pitch which did not suit their running game. The opposition kindly loaned two players who contributed well to what was an entertaining hard fought match.

Crediton started strongly scoring a converted try. Okes responded through Daniel Thorne who drove over from a quick tap penalty to score. The conversion was missed.

The home side scored two further converted tries orchestrated by a talented young fly half who was given too much time and space. Three strong drives came from the Okes' Joe Mawle and the forwards set up Finn Fallon-Clark to score a well deserved try.

Crediton replied with a further converted try to open an 18 point lead. Okes responded strongly with both loan players scoring a try each converted by Daniel Thorne and Liam Pyle.

The Okehampton boys fought hard pressurising the opposition line but unfortunately ran out of time.

Crediton U10s 5

Okehampton U10s 45

THE main match saw Okehampton triumph 45-5 whilst in the second game they were victorious by 25-0.

There were good performances from Joel Tancock, playing his 1st season of rugby, who had a number of barnstorming runs up the flanks and Corey Holliday who showed good awareness at scrum-half in making a number of sniping runs before off-loading the ball.

Tries were scored by Jack Ogbourne (5), Leon Horn (3), Gregory Daniel (2), Ollie Arden (2), Adam Mortimore and a maiden try for Nyassa Binijewel, who showed the opposition a clean pair of heels to glide up the wing from 30 metres out.

Saltash U9s 15

Tavistock U9s 30

THIS was a good peformance from Tavistock against a solid Saltash side.

Tries from Jack, Joe and Lachlan secured an away win in muddy conditions.

Luke and Morgan played extremely well and deserve alot of credit for the spirit in which they played. Cian and John played well and supported their new team mates. Olly and Seamus popped up all around the field causing trouble for Saltash and Freddie, Jason and Theo were all making great in roads for the team.

Both Jack, with fine runs through the defence, and Joe, for superb tackling, were outstanding but Tavistock player of the match was Lachlan Fulton with quick thinking and intense pressure constantly putting Saltash on the back foot.

However, as always, the win was a team effort.

Crediton U9s 25

Okehampton U9s 75

THE first try of the match came after a good break from Will who broke clear of the Crediton defence to pass to Daniel who scored.

Okehampton used the loose ball to their advantage, this in turn led to lots of passing taking place amongst the team. Sound forward running came from Liam and both Toms who all gave this week's try scorers opportunities to get the points needed to secure this match.

Among the tries came from Daniel (2), Nathan (6), Will (2), Kai (2), George (1) and this week's captain Brad (2).

Some great play came from Kai who off loaded the ball to Daniel, then to Nathan for him to score his third. Sound tackling this week again came from Imogen and Okes' player of the match went to Amelia for her good team spirit and consistent support throughout the match.

Saltash U8s 9 tries

Tavistock U8s 11 tries

TAVISTOCK started from the off with a strong defensive line but a determined Saltash team found their way through enough  to bring the half time score to six tries to five in Tavistock's favour.

The visitors came out in the second half with a more disciplined defence which thwarted the Saltash attacks by forcing them wide and applying constant pressure to force errors. The Tavistock team made some intelligent cross field switch balls and confident sidestepping leaving the Saltash defence standing.

Tavistock tries coming from Henry Varndell Dawes (1), Lois Thornton (1), Noah Berridge (3), James White(1), Louis Peake (3), Harry Edwards (1) and  Joe Inmans piercing run ending in a deserved try.

Saltash U8s 6 tries

Tavistock U8s 11 tries

GOOD support play and strong defence by both sides saw half time at four tries all.

Tavistock stepped up a gear in the second half with yet more defence splitting runs and wide attacks fuelled by some quick hands moving the ball across the pitch.

Tavistock's defensive pressure also leading to some great turnover play and to full length runs by Louis Peake deservedly adding to his try tally. The whole Tavistock team played their part with some solid tagging from William Chapman and Devon Jackman and some  confident attacking play by  Tom Gardner, Jack Baker and James Kenyon.

Tavistock tries came from Henry Varndell-Dawes, Harry Edwards (3), Louis Peake( 3), James White(3) and Noah Berridge.

Okehampton U7s 7 tries

Tavistock U7s 13 tries

The Okes fought hard, tagging well with Indie Horn and Zac Thorpe were sharp in defence and Matthew Williams, Marcus Reed and James Hockridge supported.

Try scorers were Jay Jenkins, James Fishleigh, Jacob Smith, Indie Horn, Joe Duffy and Oliver Johns.
