TAVISTOCK College students are having their voices heard by local decision makers thanks to a fellow student and youth parliament member.

Year 10 student Isobel Martin, 14, ran a stall at the college to canvass opinion on everything from safeguarding young people to disabled access and provision, after being elected to the UK Youth Parliament to represent Devon North West and Torridge.

Isobel said: 'We did a display to ask what people thought about the topics we're working on like safeguarding and making political education compulsory and relevant, interesting and up to date.

'We're making sure there's a youth voice and we've been getting quite a good response from people.'

The findings will be used to create a pack for local schools with suggestions for assemblies and citizenship and religious studies lessons from students themselves.
