A PUB in Chagford has donated £5,000 to a youth group after it was recognised for its work in the community.

In September, the Globe Inn was crowned the South West regional winner in the Community Hero Awards 2012, run by Enterprise Inns.

The awards recognise publicans for the positive impact they have on their community, and each regional finalist is awarded £5,000 to assist with their community work. For the overall national winner, the prize is a £10,000 grant.

The pub is run by Graham Flight and Mary French, and they have pledged their £5,000 toward funding a support worker for the town's youth group.

Among the work they do in the community, they founded the Chagford Film Festival last year. The pub's cinema hosts film screenings, and runs monthly events like pub quizzes, open mic nights and free music evenings.
