AN ACTIVITIES taster day aimed at getting older people in Okehampton involved in new learning exercises recently has been declared a great success.
Fifteen people attended the day at the
Ockment Centre, organised by Stepping On.
Participants were offered the chance to do two activities from a choice of calligraphy, computers, art, chair yoga and creative writing.
Those who attended demonstrated that you are never too old to learn ? with the youngest participant being 55 and the oldest 86!
At the end of the day many of the learners said it had been good to get out and meet others with similar interests, some wishing to pursue certain activities further.
Following the day, it is hoped an older persons? art group can be formed and if anyone is interested, or has an elderly relative who might like to try painting they are asked to contact Christine Munkenbeck on 01837 53800 and express their interest.
The art group can hopefully get going in the New Year if enough people come forward.
