OKEHAMPTON and District Cats Protection is appealing for people to donate cat food this Christmas.

Money saved on the donated food will go towards vets' bills, equipment and new pens for the cats.

Cat food donation boxes can be found at Okeford Vets, Big H Superstore in School Way, Mole Avon, North Park Vets in Exeter Road Industrial Estate, North Park Vets in North Tawton and North Park Vets in Hatherleigh.

Branch co-ordinator for Okehampton and District Cats Protection Pat Sawyer said: 'Many of us who are cat owners know that in every box of food you buy there are two or three flavours that dear puss will turn its nose up at.

'Therefore, people have lots of unopened cat food taking up cupboard space and they can't think what to do with it —well the Cats Protection can use it.'

Pat Sawyer expressed thanks to all the businesses who are supporting the appeal.

She said: 'If this appeal is successful, maybe they will consider letting us have the donation bins all year round.'
