TWO young Okehampton cross country runners were among the winners at the South West cross country championships in Exeter recently.
Luke Elsmore from Okehampton won the under-13 race which covers a distance of 2,500 metres. Matthew Barrett from Northlew was second in the under-20 race, which covers a distance of 5,600 metres. Matthew also won the men's senior team race as part of a four man team.
Both Luke and Matthew are students at Okehampton College and have been competing in the Western League this season.
Harriet Bailey from Chagford also did well at the championships, finishing fifth in the girls' under-13 race. She also won a silver in the team category for her age group. All three youngsters compete for Exeter Harriers.
