THE Okehampton Ladies' Netball league got off to a fine start with some excellent netball being played by all teams. The league are pleased that the younger players have entered the league after coming up from the Junior Netball league.

The first week saw some close matches in the first and third divisions with Sparks just hanging on to beat new team Bluebirds by one goal.

Another newly promoted team Hawks Tor gave FBI a real run for their money in the first division with FBI winning the game by 4 goals.

Results for September 7: Hi Line 51 Magpies 18, FBI 24 Hawks Tor 20. Bradford Belles 17 Hotshots 50. Sprites 42 Tonix 14, Sparks 17 Bluebirds 16, Falcon Jnrs 33 Maltesers 25.

Matches on September 21 saw Falcons breeze through their match against a disappointing start for Dodgers. Dodgers found it hard to keep up with the young legs of some of the up and coming youngsters of the Falcons.

Hotshots had another excellent match beating Lifton Ladies quite convincingly in this second division match. Lifton rallied in the second and third quarters but Hotshots proved too strong and ran away with the lead in the final quarter.

Hotshots 24 Lifton 11, Sprites 23 Jammie Dodgers 25, Tonix 11 Jets 32; Starburst 10 Revels 36.

Jesters had a battle in their first match of the new season against newly promoted Jammie Dodgers. However, they held on to win by just two goals with an excellent performance from Sue Friend who got both players and umpires player of the match for Jesters.
