Tavistock U15s 36 Torrington U15s 10 THE last match before Christmas proved to be the best performance of the season. Despite an early penalty by Torrington Tavistock came back with a strong attack, concluding with a try and conversion. The good team effort produced robust work in the scrums and mauls, with excellent passing, allowing O?Neill, Warlow, Cuthbert and Morgan (2) to score. Cuthbert converted twice and Smith made the third conversion. Stunning runs by the forwards combined with a co-ordinated defence made an exciting game played with great spirit and enthusiasm. Torrington played well with a late try but Tavistock?s game plan and determination could not be beaten. Leeson was voted man of the match. The team resumes training on Thursday January 5. New members always welcome. Tavistock U11s 35 Liskeard U11s 12 A DEPLETED Tavistock were aided by the loan of two Liskeard players. Tavistock side produced four tries in the first half by exploiting gaps in the Liskeard defence with four successful conversions from Rhys Davies. The scoreline does not reflect the play with Liskeard dominating lineouts and winning the ball from the scrum. There was strong tackling and rucking from both sides and exciting defensive play on each other?s line with the ball being held up. In the second half Liskeard exploited forward advantage, denying the ball from Tavistock?s stronger backs, and achieved two well deserved tries. They were unlucky on the first conversion when the ball bounced off the central bar but successful with the second. The final score came from a run in try on the wing from Jonty Newton converted by Henry Kisby. Tavistock U10s 0 Liskeard U10s 15 TAVISTOCK had their best half of the season to date, ending a thrilling first 20 minutes at 0-0. The opposition was bigger and physical, but Tavistock stood toe to toe, tackling well and rucking with determination. Daniel Dawes seemed to be everywhere, in attack and defence. Aaron Dobey led the tackling, but all the team committed themselves to a physical encounter. In the second half, the size of the opposition told and an early push-over try was conceded. Tavistock kept their heads up, with strong runs from Finlay and Callum Ross, Ollie Watts and Josh Birch. Max Phillips rucked well, fighting for the ball to release the backs, but Tavistock lost this close encounter three tries to nil. Plymouth Argaum U14s 7 Tavistock U14s 48 EARLY in the game, a scrum won against the head led to quick passing to Matt Robbins, who scored. Conversion by Sean Hill. Plymouth attacked, and a loose tap from the lineout led to an easy try. Matt Langman running off the back of the ruck linked with Miles Ross who sprinted to score. Excellent running by Dan Scott led to a Tavistock penalty, and from the tap George Gibbons scored at the base of the post. In the second half, Harrison Short gathered a high kick and with smooth passing, Karl Rowe used his power to score. Tavistock piled on the pressure, the result a well deserved try by George Coiley. The forwards continued to dominate loose play, and with space to run Miles Ross scored a further two tries, the second of breathtaking speed and ability collecting a high attacking kick from Sean Hill.
