Devon League division D
FOR their first home league match of the season Chagford eased to their second win in a low scoring game.
After their first wicket fell cheaply, Dawlish and Teignmouth's young opener Keith Davis stayed at the crease for 90 minutes forming their highest partnership of 26 with Walker before falling to a good catch by Pete Nolan for 13.
Only Jon May tried to attack the bowling but when he became Jon Jenkins' third victim for the top score of 22 there was little further resistance.
Chagford held their catches for bowlers Tony Hutchings, 4 for 16, and John Jenkins, 5 for 20, to share the wickets.
In return, Chagford openers David Steele and Derek Owen batted steadily putting on over half the runs required before Owen was lbw for 15.
Charlie Hutchings joined Steele to push the score to 55 before Steele was caught for a match top score of 35, having reached the boundary three times.
With 38 overs still in hand Chagford were able to reach their total easily and a second win in the league.
Chagford v Lydford
THE first and last wicket stands of 56 by Dale Owen and Ian Mathewson and Ken Moss and Stewart Potter and a midwicket partnership of 43 by John d'Arch Smith and Michael Colridge proved to be the foundation of Chagford's victory over Lydford.
Andy Alford with 4 for 55 was Lydford's most successful bowler.
For Chagford, Stewart Potter was Chagford's best bowler with 5 wickets for 31.
