IN division one of the Okehampton and district table tennis league Dartmoor Fringe were at home against Bridestowe who raced into a 3-0 lead; Mark Fogerty beat Naomi Jackson and Mark Tancock beat Andy Moppett.

Phil Down just managed to beat Keith Smith in a hard fought five legs 8-11, 12-14, 13-11, 11-7, 5-11. Mark Tancock went on to score a fine maximum while Andy Moppett went on to win two singles, the first against Mark Fogerty winning 14-12, 11-5, 6-11, 6-11, 12-10. Naomi Jackson beat Phil Down in another five legs 14-12, 11-5, 6-11, 6-11, 12-10. The two Marks won the doubles against Naomi and Keith for a 7-3 win for Bridestowe, to take them to second place in the league.

In division two The Young Ones had two good wins — first beating Academy A 7-3 and The Anchorage C 8-2 to take them to the top of the League table, one point ahead of Academy A with a game in hand. Sarah Jackson scored maximums in both and ably supported by George and Edward Haskell. George did well to beat Steve Plantanos of Anchorage C 6-11, 11-5, 11-7, 8-11, 13-15.

Moretonhampstead played Anchorage C at Okehampton in an exciting match with Moreton' running out winners 6-4. Ken Underhill with a maximum and David Shilston with two, David and Ken winning the doubles against Barry Williams and Steve Plantanos. Richard Underhill had a five leg game against Barry 11-7, 1-11, 11-9, 9-11, 6-11, he also took Ross Heriot to a fifth leg decider just losing out 9-11, 12-14, 11-3, 11-9, 6-11.

In the last division two match Okehampton B were at home to Milton Abbot, Maureen Venton and Dick Randell put Okehampton 2-0 ahead.

Ian Osborne made it 2-1 beating Ann Creamer in four legs and went on to complete a fine maximum, beating first Maureen in straight sets; he had a harder third singles against Dick Randell just winning 11-7, 9-11, 9-11, 11-6, 6-11 to put Milton ahead 3-4. Michael Blatchford won the next against Ann to make the score 3-5. Maureen won the next against Max Williams and joined Dick in the doubles to level the match 5-5.
