THERE was only one game this week in division one of the Okehampton and District Table Tennis League. A depleted J Team took on current joint league leaders The Young Ones.

With only two players, The J Team struggled, although Frank Cockburn managed to take George Haskell to the fifth set before going down 11-9, 8-11, 8-11, 11-7, 5-11. Frank teamed up with Sarah Jackson in the doubles against Edward Haskell and Andy Moppett just losing in five sets. The 10-0 victory now means The Young Ones are 11 points clear at the top. The J Team scores were Sarah Jackson (0), Frank Cockburn (0). The Young Ones scores were George Haskell (3), Edward Haskell (3), Andy Moppett (3).

From the previous week Bridestowe secured a bonus point with a clinical 10-0 win home against Anchorage B. Colin Jones took a set off Mark Fogerty but Bridestowe were too strong. Bridestowe player Mark Tancock continues to impress with 20 wins from 21 games. 

Bridestowe scores were Mark Fogerty (3). Mark Tancock (3), Phil Down (3). Anchorage B scores were Dave Wilson (0), Colin Jones (0), Jenny Gilbert (0). Bridestowe's Mark Tancock and Phil Down also took the doubles beating Dave Wilson and Roger Gilbert in three close games 11-8, 11-8, 11-9.

There was one game in division two between North Wyke and Okehampton B. North Wyke came out on top 7-3 although Oke B player Janice Seabrook maintained her unbeaten record for the season with another fine maximum. Maureen Venton took Paulo Dumont to the fifth set and Steve Granger and Dave Scholefield took the doubles against Maureen and June Randell. North Wyke now go seven points clear at the top of division two. North Wyke scores were Paulo Dumont (2), Steve Granger (2), Dave Scholefield (2). Okehampton B scores were Janice Seabrook (3), Maureen Venton (0), June Randell (0).
