Devon and Exeter division six
Chagford Reserves 1
East Budleigh Res 0
WITH the Chagford first team's trip to Honiton postponed, the Reserves may have taken the opportunity to top up their side with more senior players. However, they stuck to their ethos and gained a well deserved victory to halt a run of defeats.
Honours were fairly even in the first half although the hosts felt they just edged it on the balance of play. Throughout all areas, Chagford looked comfortable without creating clear cut chances going forward or being under threat at the back.
Chagford upped the ante for the second period and virtually laid siege to East Budleigh's goal.
Despite their best efforts, the home side could not break down a frustratingly defensive opponent — that is until a Chagford corner in the dying minutes. As the ball came free of the resultant melee, 16 year old sub Jake Rowe stabbed it home for his first senior goal and much celebration from the home supporters at the Memorial Ground.
The visitors never recovered from this set back so Chagford went on to take the three points.
