THE YOUNG people of Cheriton and Tedburn YFC have given a cancer charity a wonderful Christmas present this year, after a year of tireless fundraising.

Sarah Shaw from CLIC Sargent visited the group meeting on Tuesday, December 18 to receive a cheque for £4,250.

The money was raised from September 2011 to September 2012 with a range of activities.

Club secretary Rachel Retter and the club leader's wife Jackie Bowden did the most daring fundraiser, taking part in a skydive.

The pair raised more than £2,500.

Jackie Bowden said: 'We have all enjoyed participating in these various fundraisers and we hope our efforts will help CLIC Sargent to support the children and families in their care.'

Other activities included a fung sale, a charity clay pigeon shot at Bowbeer Farm, a 24 hour trampoline-athon, and chairman Chris Berry even got his legs waxed to raise funds.
